A Piece of Me
STUDIOS OF OWEN FOSTER
“A Piece Of Me”
Working outdoors and in my studio gives me more freedom to pursue my feelings for a painting in more depth. I use my camera on long hikes to catch the mood and feeling of a time in space when not painting on location. I never finish a work on location; it’s usually blocking in the patterns of light, catching mood and feeling of a scene. So as to enjoy as much of the day, painting and creating as possible. Then finish up in my studio where I like to use various mediums to render a finish work.
Working mostly in oils and acrylics, I like bold strokes with big brushes and painting knives, putting down thick juicy paint that says, “touch me” and adds feeling to my works. Not possible with pastels or watercolors, but I work them in the same bold fashion.
The inspiration for my art is my heart; if I feel it I’ll paint it or create it. From the abstracts to people standing in the fields working, to still lives and subjects abroad. Everything is fair game. A piece of me goes into each work.
Animals excite me in all forms, birds the most. Painting landscapes, still lives, portraits, etc. are just as exciting when you’re putting all your emotions into your work. Adding feeling and mood to a painting for the enjoyment of others.
I have an open mind towards style, no one style is what I’m looking for, I like trying anything and everything when it come to creating a work of art; from hands, rags, scraping, brushes, knives , found and/or recycled goods, to help portray mood and feeling.
So enjoy my works and the mood they portray, the feelings they give you and give a good home to the piece your feeling today.
